We all want to be happy and living healthy, but we tend to ignore the messages our own body sends us. Living Healthy isn’t just as about eating right or jogging from time to time – it’s a complex process, involving a number of different factors. Happiness, however, starts from within, and in order to be able to live a fulfilling life, you need to make sure you’re living a healthy one. 

Nutrition for Living Healthy

Your diet is directly linked to your psychological and physiological state. There isn’t a single “miracle diet” that can magically shed off those extra pounds but there are ways in which you can improve your eating habits. The first thing you need to do is figure out your basic calorie needs – men generally tend to need around 2,500 calories per day, while women – around 2,000, but you can use an online calorie calculator to identify your own. Base your meals on starchy foods such as rice, potatoes and cereals, and make sure you include lots of fruits and vegetables. Cut down on the saturated fats and sugar (reduce and or eliminate)  and replace your carbonated drinks with plain water or fresh juice.

Exercise – Living Healthy

In order to stay fit and healthy, you need to combine eating healthy with exercising regularly. Working out on a regular basis will not only help you get in shape but will strengthen your body and blood vessels and protect you against numerous health threats. Go to the gym at least twice a week and engage in muscle strengthening exercises – and make sure to target all muscle groups. Add some cardiovascular activity to your daily routine as well. Even fifteen minutes of aerobics in the morning can do wonders for your body and living healthy.

Rest and Relax

When you think about living  healthy, you probably think about the things you need to start doing in order to live a healthy life. Well, healthy living is also about the things you don’t do – such as overworking yourself. Your body and mind need rest in order to function properly. Make sure you get an 8-hour sleep every night (and it’s best to go to bed before 12am). Resting and giving your body time to recover will decrease your stress, alleviate any chronic pain or problems you might be suffering from and give you enough energy to go on with your daily tasks.

Friends

Living healthy is not just about your physical health, but your mental and spiritual one, as well. We, humans, are social beings and as such, we thrive on communication with others. Find time for your friends and loved ones – go for a coffee once a week, or schedule a weekly dinner or cocktail at your place. As you age, your friends can truly turn into your life savers and conversations, sharing and being in touch with them will keep you happier and healthier.

Love yourself

Finally, to be able to live happily, you need to be able to love yourself. Your health is so much more than simply your body – it’s a combination between your physical, mental and spiritual state and you need to address all these factors. Find time to eat right and exercise regularly, find time to spend with your friends and family, but also make the time for yourself. Learn to love who you are and be proud of what you’ve accomplished. Feeling content with oneself is the one true “miracle solution” for healthy and happy life. Loving happy is a natural part of living healthy.
